Certificate Training Programs
Join the CWB, in partnership with Labour Skills and Immigration Workplace Education Initiative (WEI) to help you get started and grow your business.
As part of our Certificate Training programs, you will have access to:
- information and resources to start, launch, and grow your business
- a collaborative group of women for peer support
- one-on-one support from an experienced facilitator
- dedicated time to spend on business planning and working towards your business goals
- week-to-week and ongoing accountability from facilitator and peer group members
Eligibility Requirements:
- This program requires a time commitment of 40 hours; please consider your availability and be aware of the dates and times before you choose to apply
- This is a virtual program, please ensure you have access to reliable internet and computer capability to participate each week
- All participants must be residents of Nova Scotia
- Each program may have additional specific requirements, see below
Winter 2026 Courses
Business Plan Fundamentals
Businesses with a written plan are more likely to be successful. A well laid out business plan helps the new entrepreneur focus on the steps needed to get started on their entrepreneurial journey and to make better decisions. It also helps the business owners clarify their business idea, develop the research to validate the market and prepare financials. For an established business, the business plan is a record of their plans which can be used to measure their success and create innovative plans for growth. The Business Plan Fundamentals program will program will enable the participants to take a deep look into their business idea and begin the process of developing a clear business plan. This program will also support those who start a business without developing that foundational plan.
Over a period of 10 weeks you will explore the business plan process – helping you develop and refine your business idea. By the end of this program, participants will have the tools needed to complete their business plan.
Learning Objectives:
- Develop a vision for their business
- Use market research tools to describe their industry, competitors and identify their target market
- Develop a detailed marketing plan
- Identify startup costs and prepare cash flow projections
- Develop an operations plan
- Increase confidence in their business management skills

- New to business
- Exploring starting a business
- 1-2 years in business but does not have a business plan

Her background includes developing and delivering educational content in higher education for employers and employees, providing a strong foundation for engaging adult learners. Grace focuses on delivering practical insights and actionable skills in the courses, empowering participants to achieve growth and clarity in their businesses and workplaces.
