CWB Receives $5,000 in Funding from the CUA Community Investment Grant Program

Last week the Centre for Women in Business (CWB) was honoured to receive a $5,000 grant under the 2024 CUA Community Investment Grant Program, for our Specialized Program in Cooking Entrepreneurship (SPICE) kitchen and the mini-SPICE initiative!

Our SPICE program is designed to help under-represented Nova Scotian women build industry knowledge of Nova Scotia food safety standards, successfully incorporating them into their businesses, and learning the steps and skills they need to transition to a fully compliant food business.

Natalie Frederick-Wilson, the SPICE program lead who accepted the award, shared “The CUA grant will help make the business dreams of the SPICE participants and other food entrepreneurs come true. It allows the participants to purchase essential pieces of equipment to support their food production, and it will contribute towards organizing a SPICE conference; a one-day educational event designed to provide invaluable support and guidance for food entrepreneurs seeking to establish and expand their ventures in Nova Scotia.”

Congratulations to all the other grant recipients and a huge thank you to CUA for their generous support which will have direct impact on the under-represented women served by the SPICE program!
