Celebrating Gordia Macdonald

September 24, 2019 – Halifax Nova Scotia

The Centre for Women in Business was fortunate to have Gordia Macdonald on the team for the last fifteen years. As one of our experienced business advisors, Gordia fully supported the integration of diverse, under-represented groups in corporate supply chains and was an early pioneer in her work to develop the early programs of supplier diversity in Atlantic Canada. Her diverse background and shining personality have helped countless women entrepreneurs accessing services through the Centre.

Originally a nurse, Gordia knows how to treat people with compassion. By running her own business in Annapolis Valley, she has personal experience in the many rewards and challenges that come with being a woman in business. As a mother and grandmother, she excels at nurturing those around her. The way she interacts with others and the knowledge she has graciously passed down has left a lasting impact on her clients as well as coworkers.

Gordia retired in the summer of 2019. A party in her honour was the obvious route, but a tangible representation of the impact she has had within her community was also warranted. To properly thank Gordia, she was presented with a dedicated leaf on the Riva Spatz Women’s Wall of Honour on August 14, 2019. Surrounded by past coworkers, clients, friends, and family, it was the perfect way to recognize the accomplishments and impact of such an incredible woman.

You can visit her leaf outside of the Mount Saint Vincent University McCain Building, and virtually at www.womenswallofhonour.ca
