On Oct. 24, the Centre and the Nova Scotia Advisory Council on the Status of Women (NSACSW) will celebrate the 40th anniversary of the NSACSW, and women in leadership will take centre stage.

Please join us for this empowering breakfast event, which will take place at the Lord Nelson, Halifax, and will feature a keynote from Deborah Gillis, CEO of Catalyst, a leading non-profit organization focused on accelerating progress for women through workplace inclusion.

A Nova Scotia native, Deborah is now based in New York, and has been at the helm of Catalyst since 2014.  She has been named one of Canadian Business Magazine’s 10 Most Influential Canadians, and is a recipient of the US Foreign Policy Association Medal. In 2017, Deborah accepted an honorary Doctor of Laws from Cape Breton University for dedicating her life’s work to advocating for women’s rights and equality.

Deborah will speak about her experiences at Catalyst, and why she was compelled to choose a career dedicated to giving everyone an equal opportunity to succeed. She will share some key life lessons derived from her work as a consultant and practice leader for two global professional services firms, her commitment to acting as a champion of initiatives to mentor women, and why this is so important today.

The event will also focus on key elements of strong leadership that participants can apply to their own careers, and feature networking over a hot breakfast prepared by the Lord Nelson's international culinary team.
