Considering starting your own business? We’re here to help you.
The Centre for Women in Business is a university business development centre (UBDC), based on the Mount campus. We can connect business owners to the resources of the University, while at the same time providing students with realworld business experience.
Client – Student Matching
We’re dedicated to providing students with resources, assistance, and learning opportunities in the business world. On a regular basis the Centre is asked by University faculty to match our clients with students for course assignments. For business owners this provides invaluable access to ideas, research and assistance with key business needs. For students it’s an opportunity to experience working with real clients and to find out more about what business operations are all about.
Ignite Awards
What do you get when you pair bright, energetic public relations students with businesses looking for solutions? Award-winning and inspiring communications plans. The Centre for Women in Business (CWB) recently partnered with the Mount's Communications Studies department to host the Ignite Student Awards - a competition for public relations students.
Students were invited to work in teams to complete their course assignment – a communications plan – for their selected client. Participating students worked with local businesses to take advantage of an opportunity or to solve a communications issue that the companies were facing. Teams provided an overview of their plan during class presentations at the end of the term. The presentations were attended by the clients and a judging panel of CWB staff.
